Dear Mrs. Voegelin,

I am sure we are distant cousins...There are only approx. 900 or so Halfhills in the USA and almost all come from DeWalt Halberger and Elizabeth.

Now I made one mistake that is common in all of this. Actually, Mathias is DeWalt jr's son.

You may respond herein or to my personal email, which ever you choose.

One thing that is going to be difficult is putting together the early Ohio history...especially if many of our ancestors did not use surnames very early on...

I have been corresponding with Dennis Halfhill from Florida and we both have been making alot of discoveries that the much of the Gallia County, Ohio family didn't seem to know. Over time, history is forgotten or changed by stories rather than facts, it seems.

Now it looks like I have my geneology traced back to 1720...With one gap that may be filled with your help. But the details on alot of this stuff...The multiple marriages with the Wyandot people, the useage of Bible names and the lack of surnames for Native spouses...Its plenty to look into!

I look forward to hearing from you.

Best,
Phil Reed Halfhill
