Decatur County Journal Thursday, February 3, l9l6 WELDON NEWS: Another one of God's faithful, loving children has passed to her reward. Another soul is at rest in the presence of Jesus. Another life has been completed, lived as an immortal testimony of the peace and contentment which may come into the human heart when it is presided over by the loving direction of our Heavenly Father. The life of RHODA ANN BARNES began in Greene County, Pennsylvania, February l8, l846. Reared in a Christian family, she early made her choice for a life linked with Christ and has never wavered. United in marriage to JOHN TALLMAN, March 30, l870, she spent forty-six years as a loving wife and companion. During the span of years the influence of a Christian home has been felt in whatever community they have lived. Few nights and mornings when it was possible, did they miss having family worship. She will be missed as a loving wife, but the great prayer of a devoted life has been answered. She was cared for till the last. All of the love which existed between this aged and devoted couple will make the meeting in Heaven all the happier. "He shall wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more." Into this home came seven children. BERTHA died in childhood, and HESTER at the age of 35. FANNIE, ELLA, ROXIE, CARL and BRUCE, with the bereaved husband mourn the death of a dear mother. Her ideals of a Christian life, her purity, her desire to sacrifice herself for the good of others, her love and faithfulness, have made her passing away the greater loss. In the hearts of her children she will ever be surrounded with all the honor, love and devotion that give so much meaning to the word "mother." As a sister, her life has been one of willingness to help and serve. She is survived by two brothers and two sisters; one brother and one sister, who are present to pay her a last loving tribute. Fourteen grandchildren have lost one who can never be replaced. Her home was always filled with welcome and sunshine for them. This Christian home came to Weldon twenty-eight years ago and the heads of it united with the Methodist Church. Since then MR. and MRS. TALLMAN have always been found in their place of worship if it were possible to be there. As a neighbor her life has been one of service. The needy and the sorrowing ever found in her a loving friend. This life has gone from us, but our loss is her gain. Her suffering is over. She is at rest. While we, as loved ones mourn her passing away, our hearts shall ever be filled with gratitude to our Heavenly Father for a devoted Christian life so long spared. Her memory shall ever remain. CARD OF THANKS. We wish to thank the friends and neighbors who so kindly assisted us during the illness and death of our wife and mother. For the kindly sympathy shown by all and for the beautiful floral offerings. J.C. TALLMAN AND FAMILY. Notify Administrator about this message?
