Dear Bev,

The May 14, 1870 Philadelphia Inquirer (newspaper) has an article on page 1 about a man, John DEALL, hung in Reading for the 1869 murder of Richard M. HARLAN in which Jeremiah REBER is mentioned. Talking about John DEALL:

"....On Friday morning, October 8, 1869, but two days after his release from the Eastern Penitentiary, he met Harlan for the first time in his life. They met in Reading and traveled towards Schuylkill county together, passing through the township of Outelaunee, and stopped at the house of Jeremiah Reber, between two and three o'clock in the afternoon, where they drank some cider. The next place they were seen at was the tavern of Mr. Graeff, in Leesport, about four o'clock on the same afternoon, where they took a drink......."

Enjoy,
Karen
