Is this his middle name? Sometimes if they didn't like the first they used the middle.

Found an obituary on Ancestry:

D. P. Mclure dies
After a brief illness, only from last Friday, D. P. McClure, one of Curl, wensville's oldest and best citizenns passed away this (Thursday) morning at his home on Filbert St., death being caused by pneumonia. -Mr. MClure had not been in the best health for the past few years, however .
David Porter McClure was born in Pike township on Oct, 12, 1834, being 77 years, two months and nine days old at the time of his demise. He was the eldest son of the late Wilson and Mary McClure and was Married in 157 to Miss Maria Tate, of Lawrence township, who survives him. He leaves two childrn, . F. McClure, of Litchfield, Minn,
President of the National Bank of that, place, and Myrtle, wife of Howard Burkett, of this place. He also leaves one brother, John R. McClure of Pike township, and three sisters, Miss
Marion McClure, of the said township, and Mrs. Rex and Mrs. Foster Williams. of Lake City, Iowa. For many years Mr. McClure was employed on the river as pilot and his reminiscences of rafting days were interesting. "practically since their, marriage Mr.& Mrs. McClure have
been residents of Curwensville, and he was a familiar figure to nearly all our citizens (unreadable) The news of his death will be received with regret by all who knew him
The funeral will be held Saturday afternoon at two o'clock from the Mclure residence and will be in charge of the Rev. E. H. Wittman pastor of the Methodist Episcopal Church, and the Rev. IP Hawkins, pastor of the Lutheran Church
