Seeking descendants of John (?-1790) and Jean (Brownlee) Allison. Does anyone know where the original homes or home sites of John Allison and his son, Hugh Allison are located? I believe that the homes were located in Chartiers Township on the eastern side of PA-18/Henderson Ave., between Welsh Rd. to the north and Cross Road to the south, in about the middle, across from the Whispering Pines Family Campground. I have found the following information: 1. On September 25, 1787, John Allison obtained a patent for 415 acres of land in Canton Township, Washington County. 2. John Allison's will records,"I give and bequeth unto my beloved wife Jane the house I now live in". She also received 100 acres of land. Also in John's will, "I give unto my sons, Gavin, Archibald and John the land on the west side of the trail I now live on". So, does this mean that John's house was on the east side of a trail, which later became a modern road? PA-18/Henderson Ave. appears to be a good possibility. 3. Hugh Allison inherited unspecified land from his father, John Allison. 4. The United States Direct Tax of 1798 for Washington County records that Jane Allison owned 100 acres and lived near her son Hugh Allison (with 80 acres) in Chartiers Township. Jane's house was valued at $30 and Hugh's house was valued at $50. 5. In the 1810 US Census for Washington County, Hugh lived in Chartiers Township, next to his mother Jane Allison (she died in 1818). 6. In the 1830 US Census for Washington County, Hugh still lived in Chartiers Township, apparently the same place. 7. When Hugh Allison died in 1853, his son Archibald H. Allison received the family farm. 8. Caldwell's 1876 Atlas of Washington County shows an A.H. Allison (123 acres) and an E.? Allison (150 acres) living beside each other, in Chartiers Township. They lived on the eastern side of an unnamed road, apparently modern PA-18/Henderson Ave. Hugh Allison's sons were Archibald H. Allison and Ebenezer Allison. Archibald and Ebenezer owned their land until 24 December 1902, and both sold their land on the same day to John Murphy. Due to the amount of land John Murphy bought and sold, it is unclear who later owned the former Allison farms. Best regards, James Allison Notify Administrator about this message?
