Dear Ann, Yesterday,I posted a message to you here. I forgot to make it clear though that I need your address if I'm to send you copies of photographs and documents. Yesterday, I found a document showing Robert Pabitzky's brother, Theodore, was naturalized as a U.S. citizen in 1865. I sent for a copy of the record. I hope it may contain such things as the date of his emmigration, his exact place of birth, and perhaps even the names of his parents. I doubt it will, but can't afford to overlook the possibility it might. On that point, I think I know exactly where in Prussia at least two of the Pabitzkys' were born. If so, we may be able to access German records. In Germany, all records pretaining to an individual are kept in the place of his/her birth. If you don't know their exact birthplace, you're out of luck. If I'm right about their exact birthplace, we may be able to identify their parents and grandparents. It's hard though. Everything coming and going has to be translated, and German stamps and currancy have to be secured here. (I won't attempt this one for awhile! I think I may know too their port of embarcation. If so, there may be an untapped source of information there. I'm looking into this one. (if you're interested, there's circumstantial evidence they may have left from Denmark rather than Germany.) Yesterday,I also came across information on the causes of Robert's brothers' deaths. Theodore died of chronic gastro enteritis at forty-eight, and Herman died of cancer at age seventy-two. I've sent off too for some death records for descendents of Herman and Theodore. There were some with the Pabitzky surname, mostly female, still living as late as the 1950's. I thought their male lines had died out earlier than that. I'm wondering if their female descendents, if we can identify them, might not have family records, or legends, that might be of use to us. Last, but not least, there may still be information to be gained through surviving Catholic Church records of marriages, baptisms, and deaths. Well, enough of this! My point is just that there are still possibilities for finding additional information on the Pabitzkys. I don't think we're deadended yet. Hoping to hear from you soom: Always, Lynn Notify Administrator about this message?
