Beverly Ann Smerling was born September 10, 1950 to Carl and Erma (Wilkins) Pabst in Springfield, MN. She was baptized in the Christian faith and as a young girl went to live with her foster parents, John and Marie Peters in Mountain Lake, MN. Over the years Bev lived in Owatonna, Willmar, and several other Minnesota communities.
On November 1, 1974 Beverly married Marvin Smerling in Watertown, SD. They made their home in Balaton, MN and later moved into Garvin, MN in 1986. In the past, Bev worked for Service Enterprises in Marshall and the DAC in Marshall, before becoming a housekeeper on her own. She enjoyed needlework, latchhook, gardening, Bingo, doll collecting, and country music.
On Sunday, October 7, 2007, Beverly died at her home in Garvin at the age of 57.
Bev is survived by her husband, Marvin Smerling, of Garvin, MN; two sisters, Jeanne Pabst of Jackson, MN and Suzie; four brothers, Carl, Ronald, Donald, and Robert Pabst; several members of her foster family and many friends.
Her parents, foster parents, and one sister, Patty, preceded her in death. Funeral services were held Thursday, October 11, 2007 at the Almlie Funeral Home in Tracy, with Rev. Edsel Miller officiating. Interment in Lakeside Cemetery, Balaton, MN.
