To whom it may concern, On my way back to Prentiss county, Ms. from Tishomingo county, Ms. this morning, I found the old 'Pace Cemetery' which is located about 3 mi. N of the town of Tishomingo. It is in the trees right next to a gravel road. I have been wanting to see this little cemetery for a long time and finally decided to go by there. When I reached the spot, I was unable to see anything and thought I might be in the wrong place so I asked a man who lives almost right across the road from where I was. He called his Aunt to ask her about exactly where the cemetery is supposed to be. She told him that I was in the right spot but, about 3 yrs. ago, a man came and bush hogged it all down. Evidently he removed the headstones and then cut all of the brush that was there. I went back to the spot and, sure enough, could find nothing left there! I was given the name of the man who did this and told that he almost got into trouble for having done this. I really don't know any details. I am extremely upset by this and am sure that you, expecially those of you who have people buried in that cemetery, will be too!! I want to hear back from you people. Have you already heard about this? Do any of you have a legal backround? What are the possible legal steps that can be taken to have this man punished for this? As I understand it, the man who did this does not own the spot of land that the cemetery is on. Please contact me, (either on this forum or personally). I will do what I can, from this end, to help gather more information that you may require. Karla Harp
