PACE CEMETERY

Just wanted to let all of you who are interested know that I recently spoke with a woman by the name of 'Patsy Pace'. She transcribed the Pace Cemetery back in the 1950's. She says that the cemetery was in pretty bad shape back then and it was a real chore for her to get as many names as she did from the old ceramic stones that were there.

Patsy's husband was descended from Cion Pace that is buried in that cemetery. Some years ago she and her family had a wrought iron fence put up to surround that cemetery. She was surprised when I called her and told her that the fence, along with all of the stones, are now gone. She says that she has always wished that they could someday put up one marker in that cemetery that would list all of the names of the known dead that are buried there. But, as you know, this would be a rather expensive endeavor and it seems that there is nobody else who has a vested interest in the cemetery who could share the expenses with her.

There is a man who says that he will do some checking into the Pace Cemetery situation and will contact me when he learns something more about it. I will pass along to you whatever he has to say about it.

Thank you for your interest,
Karla
