Lisa:
Charles apparently died between 1845 and 1850 as his widow, spelled Giloh Pace on the census, is head of household on the 1850 census of Perry Co, OH, Pike Township. Children listed are Caroline 9, John 6, Sarah E. 5 all born OH. Also in household is Zella Hamilton 35. Giloh and Zella were both born in VA.
A few houses away is Minor Pace (male) age 26 and Oswell Pace age 3/12, in household of Jacob Stotts or possibly Stort. Minor was a son of David Pace b. 6/23/1800 PA and Anna Maria Van Buskirk b. 1803 PA. They were living in adjacent Muskingum Co on the 1850 census. Living very near David and Anna were two of their sons, Palmer Milton Pace b. 2/28/1822 PA and Orange William Pace b. 6/9/1824 Roseville, OH. Note the middle name of Palmer who was married to Christina Teanny Stort (Stott?)
I think it is very likely that your Charles Pace was the oldest son of David and Anna Pace. If so he would have been born about 1818-21. David was a son of David Pace, Sr. b. 1771 and Lucinda of German Valley, NJ.
These people are descendants of the Prussian Paces from Baumholder who changed their name from Pees to Pace.
Gordon W. Pace
