Noble Hamilton Pace, who I believe was co-founder of the Pace Society of America, was a diligent researcher, however Pace genealogy was in a relatively primitive state back in 1962 - much progress has been made in the past decade or so. Unfortunately, the document that he quotes in your message is filled with errors and is very misleading. The foremost authority on the origin of the Paces of German Valley, NJ is Dr. R. Wayne Pace who published a lengthy and detailed article "The Prussian Origins of the Pace Family" in the Sept 2000 issue of the Pace Society of America Bulletin. Dr. Pace has proof in the form of original documents that these Paces/Pees came from Baumholder, Rhineland, Prussia in the late 1740's.
In addition to his original research he relied on the recent book (1996) by Marion Pace Rice, "Our Name Was Pace: A Paper Trail of Sources." The current mayor of Baumholder (2000) is in fact a direct descendant of these Prussian emigrants to German Valley. Please note that their name in Prussia was Pees, which was pronounced Pace in German, so it was anglicized to Pace after their arrival in America, so, in a genealogical sense, they are not actually Paces. The Pace DNA study shows that this branch of Pees/Paces are completely unrelated to the two known lineages of Paces in Colonial Virginia of the mid-1600's
