Cat: Your Henry Harrison Pace is almost certainly a son of a Joseph Pace of Albemarle Co, VA, St. Anne's Parish. They were on the 1860 census for St. Anne's Parish as follows: #266 Joseph Pace 56 b. VA, Richard T. (son) 23 VA, Henry H. 20 VA. Henry's mother was apparently deceased. This was the only Henry H. Pace in VA in 1860. I don't know who Joseph's father was. There were 9 other Pace families in St. Anne's Parish on the 1860 census but, as far as I know, only three of them have known ancestries back to Colonial Virginia (ca. 1650): William Pace 54, with wife Dicey King and 6 children - he was a son of Benjamin Franklin Pace, Sr and Anna Robinson; Jesse Pace 51, wife Nancy and 8 children - he was a grandson of Benjamin F. Pace and Anna Robinson; Minor M. Pace and Joseph R. Pace - they were grandsons of Benjamin F. Pace and Anna Robinson. The nearest Pace family to Joseph was R. P. Pace (male) 47 with wife Betsy (HH #278)and 3 children. Other Paces with unknown ancestry were: Ben Pace 36 with wife Mary and 2 kids, living only 3 houses from Jesse, James H. Pace 31, John Pace 28 living alone, and Sarah Pace 50 with 4 children. By the 1880 census Henry H. had moved to Byrd Twp, Goochland Co, VA (age 40). Other Pace heads-of-household in this township in 1880 were Robert I. 69, Robert L. 66, Betsy 62 (single), John W. 60, Sarah A. 61, Franky (female) 56 and George W. 45. As far as I know the ancestry of none of these Paces is known. I think it is very likely that Henry's father Joseph is closely related to some of the Paces in St. Anne's Parish of 1860 or the Paces in Byrd Twp in 1880 or both, but I don't how to establish this. Perhaps someone has more info about these unidentified Paces. Gordon W. Pace Notify Administrator about this message?
