Dear Gordon, I am not shure wether I can convince my brother to have DNA testing done since he is a bit of a hippy. What does it entail? Do you need oral mucosa? Anyway, I think I can shed some light on the Mayor of Baumholder who happens to be my uncle. My Dad has had 3 brothers, namely Volkmar Pees (The Mayor), Siegfried (The Oldest) and Hans, who unfortunately died in the last minutes of the second world war aged only 18. He was never found and probably was killed near a town called Kuestrin (polish border).
I think Volkmar would be happy to answer your questions, since he has already been on a "genealogy trip" to Salt Lake City 2 years ago. I haven't got his e-mail adress but I am shure you will find information under www.Baumholder.de
