Birgit: Thanks for your response. It is very important to the PACE DNA Study to get a test subject from one of your relatives. It does not have to be your brother. Your father, or Volkmar or Siegfried or any of their sons would be equally excellent test subjects. As I said, you should go to www.pacesociety.org and click on Pace Surname DNA Project to find out the details about this project. Then click on "How to sign up". Basically you need to send an email to Roy Johnson at dna@pacesociety.org to express your interest in the study. The DNA test, which I have done myself, is very simple. They send the test kit to the person you specify as the test subject. All they have to do is take a saliva swab (oral mucosa), enclose it in the return envolope and mail it to the lab. The cost of the test is about $170.00 but there are people in the Pace Society of America who are willing to contribute to the cost of the test. I am also willing to contribute since the results would be so valuable to the PACE DNA Study. The results would either confirm or refute that you are descended from the Baumholder Prees who emigrated to America in the mid-1700's. Do you have any information about how I can contact Volkmar Pees? I would like to ask him what he knows about his specific ancestry. As to the web site, www.Baumholder.de, I could not find any information about Volkmar Pees, perhaps because I do not understand German. I really appreciate your help in this endeavor. Gordon W.
