Thanks Gordon,
As for who was first, I show Spencer Pace as the first. He was born 8 May 1794, and was on the Jefferson Co 1820 federal census, the only Pace on the 1820 federal census for Jefferson Co. His father Joel was on the August 1820 state census, but was missed in the June 1820 federal census, or else he arrived between June and August.
As for John Montague Pace, I show nine kids for him and his wife Hannah Heffelinger, but I can identify only five:
a. Harvey Thurston Pace, b 1805 KY
b. George W Pace, b 1806 KY
c. girl Pace, b 1804-1810 in Woodford Co KY
d. boy Pace, b 1811-1815 in Woodford Co KY
e. boy Pace, b 1816-1820 in Woodford Co KY
f. Amanda E Pace, b 1820 in Woodford Co KY
g. Amelia J Pace, b 1821 in Jefferson Co IL
h. girl Pace, b 1821-1825 in Jefferson Co IL
i. John H Pace, b in 1826 in Jefferson Co IL
Who did I miss? You claim eight kids. Do you have some names I don't have? ... By the way, my PACE file is about 200 Kbytes in MS-Word format. I can send if you wish.
