Thank you for your posting. I regret that I had no information for you in time for your visit to SC; however, now, I feel relatively sure that Stephen PACE (and probably John Sr) were in the area of Wards Creek and Frohawk Creek at the time of the 1800 census. The following online abstract of a plat for William CRAIN mentions Stephen PACE: http://www.archivesindex.sc.gov/search/details.asp?index=35626&table=AllArchivalData&tableLook=Plats This appears to be Spartanburg; however, William CRAIN received his pension allowance while in Greenville as indicated at the following online site: http://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/sc/military/pensions/1835report.txt For some reason, they appear to have moved into Greenville Dist SC bef 1820 census near PETTYPOOL families; and, in 1830 census near BARBARE, PETTYPOOL and GILREATH families. Maiden PACE (daughter of Stephen and Jane WOOD PACE) married Seth PETTYPOOL. This couple is buried in a private cemetery near Locust Hill SC. Any comments will be greatly appreciated.
