I agree with Gordon and Bruce Howard regarding the parentage of MARY PACE who married JACOB ALFORD. The circumstantial evidence within my own branch of the Alford family would tend to be strong "proof" of the JAMES not GEORGE fatherhood for Mary.
The youngest Alford son, so named in Jacob's will, was WILEY ALFORD. After marrying SOPHIA VALENTINE DRAKE, a daughter of ALBRITTAIN DRAKE and RUTH ANN COLLINS, the couple moved from NC to Wilson Co., TN, where they soon became a prominent member of their community and county. Wiley became a Justice of the Peace and served in that capacity for a number of years. [Anyone interested can email me and I will be happy to provide dates, proofs, etc]
The Alford home is either already now demolished or will be, having been one of the oldest surviving homes built in Wilson Co., TN. It sat on the crest of a low-rising hill looking across a creek to the taller hill to the west where the small family cemetery is located. One old slave cabin remained standing until at least 15-20 years ago.
Wiley Alford made his will Sept 19, 1853 and it was recorded Mar 26, 1854 [Wilson Co., W&I, 1853-1858, p. 86f]

There is no son named GEORGE, but there is a JAMES.
There is no OBEDIENCE.
There is no WORSHAM.
Very strange that such a prolific couple who named their children with family first and middle names, did not honor a supposed ancestor, George Pace, but did honor James Pace
(and James Drake).
