Hi Roseanne -

I'm afraid a lot of what you may read online about Richard and Isabella Pace is unreliable. No one knows when Richard was born. Isabella deposed in 1629 that she was aged 40. If correct, that would mean she was born about 1589. But we have no information on Richard's year of birth.

No one knows the name of Isabella's (or Richard's) parents. It's very unlikely that Isabella was related to John Smith. His background is well known, and nothing in it connects to the Paces.

Considering how long ago it was, it's amazing good luck that we know anything at all. A good summary of the facts as they are known can be found in the book "Some Southern Colonial Families", Vol. 2, by David Avant. This book is out of print but you may be able to find it in a genealogical library, or buy it secondhand. Good luck.

James
