Further evidence of migration of Baptists from Edgecombe and Halifax Co. churches is documented by George Paschal in "History of North Carolina Baptists" Vol II. He mentions that General William Lenoir moved with his father from Halifax Co. in the early 1770s. They settled in Surry Co. and the General later wrote about the Mulberry Field Baptist Church, describing it and the dress of the members.
This Church was a branch of the Shallow Ford Church that Rev. Joseph Murphy established, the same church John Pace is thought to have moved to from Edgecombe Co.
