Ok, found out some new info from the 1920 Census. The spelling of the name in my family is Pacelli. My grandfather, Eugene Amadio (then spelled Amaddio) had a father, we believe, named Frank who was a steward on the ships between the US and Italy. He did not live in the US and probably had other family in Italy. Eugene's mother was Grace (Grazia) Pacelli who either ran off or died when he was young. Eugene lived with her brother Joseph Pacelli (then 37) on 44 North Portland Ave in Brooklyn, Kings Co. NY. Also living with them was Joseph's wife, Viola--born in NY and Joseph's parents Frank and Jennie Pacelli, who were both born in Italy.
I'm told that Eugene may have had cousins that owned a barberhop, a fruitstand, and maybe one was a detective. But I don't know if this was on the Pacelli side. I do know that Eugene eventually became a NYC police officer.
Any connections? E-mail me and post here. Thanks!
