I'm still on this Sam Pack trip. This has gotten me a bit confused. Just don't understand why Rebecca/Becky Duncan is using two surnames if this is the same one that married Green Pack in 1863. Plus, the son Samuel is using two different names also as I will show below. I guess Green & Rebecca had only one child. Thomas Pack b 1867. Then where did all these other children come from?

I think this is the Rebecca Duncan and family in the 1860 census. Notice the Sally as sister to Mary. Now, in the 1910 census the Sallie showed up as a PACK and aunt.

33 223 223 Duncan Mary 24 F
34 223 223 Duncan Sally 21 F
35 224 224 Duncan Rebecca 78 F
36 224 224 Duncan Rebecca 23 F
37 224 224 Duncan Lutitta 4 F
38 224 224 Duncan Joseph A. 1 M

Now is this the same Rebcca Duncan that married Greenville PACK in 1863 with parents as John & Julia Duncan. I believe Greenville PACK died before 1870. Not in census.
For the Sally PACK that showed up as aunt in 1910 census. What PACK you think she married???

From the Patrick County marriage book.
Andrew Bowman age 21, md Julia A Duncan age 21, 17 Apr 1883.
d/o Rebecca Duncan, s/o Gilbert & Ruth Bowman

Julia for some reason doesn't show up in the 1880 PCVA census.
1880 Patrick county census.
Rebecca Duncan W F 40
Joseph W M 20 Son
Catherine W F 15 Daughter
Samuel W M 15 Son

Why is she showing up as a Beckey PACK in the 1910 census and as the mother of Sam Pack. Notice the Rebecca Duncan above with son Samuel.

Marriage in the Patrick County marriage book for:
Duncan, S. T. md Wilson, Margaret 7 Aug 1890
He's 22 b PCVA s/o Rebecca Duncan
She's 21 b StCo, NC d/o Jake & Polly Wilson

As it looks Sam PACK was not originally a PACK, but a Duncan, and Rebecca went back to a PACK. Wonder why the name change from Duncan to PACK?? as shown in the census.

As far as the Sally Lawson that married Isham Pack. She died in 1852. Then he married Mary Bowman.

Was there other children for Isham & Sally? You mention Ruth Pack, 2nd wife of Gilbert Bowman, was their child also.
Their children I have.
1. Milly Pack
2. James
3. Mary Pack

Any thoughts.

Hank
