The Pack's from Cripple Creek (close to Wytheville, Va.) descended from a William F. Pack, who married Jane Sutherland. He had several children, one of whom was James C. Pack was born there in 3/25/1866
and lived in Pulaski, Va., working as a blacksmith (my grandfather). We don't know much more than that, except we believe my great-great grandfather was named Greenville Pack (born about 1806). There are 3 Greenville Packs mentioned in the geneology sites, we think he either married Susan Parr from Tazewell Co. or
Rebecca Duncan from Patrick Co. At any rate, we think my great-grandfather William F. Pack moved to Cripple Creek to help start a Lutheran church (not there anymore), and it was originally called "Crockett's Chapel". There used to be a school there called the Old Pack School, so he must have helped with that too. We don't know the dates when this happened, probably around the mid-1800s.
