I went back and looked at your message # 1121 where you were looking at the birthdate of the Jeremiah Pack who married Polly Gregory. Depending on the sourse, his date of birth varies from @ 1787 to 1796. His War of 1812 pension application, dated 12 March 1871, lists his age as 84. This gives us the 1787 birthdate. His age in the 1830 McMinn county, Tennessee census and the 1840 Polk county, Tennessee census indcates he was born 1790-1800. The 1850 Cherokee county, North Carolina census list Jeremiah as 54. This gives us the 1796 date so popular with most researchers. His 10 June 1852 bounty land warrant application lists his age as 56. This makes his birthdate 1794. His second bounty land warrant application dated 13 May 1855 lists his age as 60. This gives us a birthdate of 1795. Jeremiah is listed as 69 in the 1860 Winston county, Alabama census with his son Stokley. This would mean he was born in 1791. The 1870 Monroe county census lists Jeremiah as 80, living with daughter Elizabeth Pack Stiles. According to this, his birthdate would be 1790.
So we have a range from 1787-1800 for Jeremiah's birth. Seven of the eight sources agree on a 1790-1796 range, with more specfic dates of 1790, 1791, 1794, 1795, and 1796. Given his marriage in 1809, I pesonally think the 1790-1791 dates are more likely than the 1794-1796 dates. But as you can see there are several dates to chose from. If anyone has other references to this Jeremiah Pack that would give us an approximate birthdate, please let me know.
