Searching for information the first colored settlers in Hinton WVA; William Wood, a watchmater from Va., John Woodson, the first barber in Hinton; James Johnson, a boatman, C. H, Payne, the noted colored Baptist preacher, Susan Muse, Patrick Lee, Oliver Lee and Amy Banks form the estate of Dr. Thomas Flowler, Willis Dickinson and Beverly Stanard living in Stockyards. John Miller Sr., John Miller Jr., who wrote "History of Summers County, West Virginia: From the Earliest Settlement to the Present Time-Bowie, Maryland Heritage Books, Inc. 1908, Ephraim J. Gwin of Green Sulphur Springs, Peter Maddy of Lick Creek, Colonel James Graham who in his will of 1812 gave his daughter, Rebekah Graham and Steveson's Cabin (Stinson) two negro girls named Dinah and her two children, Ira and Stuart. Also looking for information on Calloway Landcrat who was born in Nelson Cty., Va., in 1806 and was married to Emily Pack, a daughter of Bartley Pack on 6/12/1891 and slave Ben and Milly; Christoper H. Payne, the colored politician, peacher and lawyer who was raised by Vincent Sweeney who as married to Ann, a slave of Vincent Sweeney's.
Also searching for the following black attorneys-at-law: A.J. Oliver, James P. D. Gardner. T. L. Sweeney and J. M. Ellis and Dr. G. W.
