Here is some more.

Here are Isham and his son James in 1850, indexed as "Back". If I had ten dollars for every time I told people "Pack, as in 'backpack'" and got to the pizza place to be told "Your pizza is ready, Mr. Back", I wouldn't have to eat take-out pizza for dinner; I'd have my own chef.

1850: Southern District, Patrick, Virginia; Roll M432_967; Page: 393; Image: 352.

Isham Back, 48
Sally Back, 54
Milly Back, 18
James M Back, 15
Mary Back, 12

Everybody on the page is a farmer except for one laborer, and everyone is b. Virginia.

Here are two repeats from my previous post:

1860: South District, Patrick, Virginia; Roll M653_1369; Page: 981; Image: 417.

James Pack 28
Louisa Pack 41
Fowlkes Pack 5
Lydia A Pack 2
Beverly Pack 3.12

(Louis's age looks like 41 in the image, too.)

1860: South District, Patrick, Virginia; Roll M653_1369; Page: 980; Image: 416.

Isham Pach 57
Mary Pach 38

Notice they are on pages 980 and 981. The other James Pack, son of Green, b. 1832 is way across the holler, on page 390 in 1860. So, which do you trust more, proximity or arithmetic skills? Isham's son is b. 1835 in 1850. The James who has a wife Louisa is b. 1832 in 1860 but living one page away from Isham. (Isham s HH 204, James 211.)

To make is even more fun, guess who is HH 210?

James M Pach 27
Martha A Pach 24
Andrew J Pach 5
Isham Pach 3

===============

Here is Isham, going strong at 70 in 1870:

1870: Dan River, Patrick, Virginia; Roll M593_1670; Page: 461; Image: 243.

Isham Pack, 70
Floyd Pack, 10
Rachal Pack, 8
Cresy Pack, 4

Hard to tell who helps who, from the ages.
==================

In 1870 James has died, divorced or deserted, because:

1870: Dan River, Patrick, Virginia; Roll M593_1670; Page: 463; Image: 246.

Louisa Pack 34
Foulks Pack 15
Lydia A Pack 15
Davis Pack 10

Note the county has grown; Louisa is 3 pages away from Isham now. Louisa is 7 years younger than she was in 1860, an odd feat. I refuse to believe there was more than one Pack saddled "Folks" as a given name, especially given a sister Lydia. I'll bet Louisa was 24, not 41, in 1850.

James is still dead in 1880:

Note that if the post-em from Jane Warrick is right, he is Father-in-Law, not Brother-in-law.

I can't find an Octavia Pack or Octavia Janney in 1880.
