I think this is most probably the same GREENVILLE PACK, and that this is additional evidence that there was a strong family tie between our HARDIN PACK and JOHN PACK that went to Tazewell County with the family of JAMES and MARTHA PACK of Patrick County, VA.
The 1820 census of Patrick County, Virginia reveals the following:
JAMES PACK 1 male, age 26 - 45; 1 male, age 18 - 26; 1 male, age 16 - 18; 1 female over 45; 1 female under 10 years of age. It is evident that the older male and female is JAMES and MARTHA PACK. Could the two males be ISHAM and GREENVILLE PACK? I don't know who the female is that is under 10 years of age.
The 1830 census shows the following PACK families listed in the index for Patrick County, Virginia: On page 167 I find ISHAM and JAMES PACK listed. On page 168 I find ELIZABETH PACK and GREEN PACK listed. On page 149 I find JOHN COLE listed.
The 1840 census of Patrick County list the following PACK families: On page 40 is JOHN PACK: 1 male (JOHN) age 20-30; 3 males (probably ISHAM, CROCKET and FLEMING) under 5 years of age; and 1 female (MATILDA) 20-30 years of age.
On the same page is JAMES PACK: 1 male (JAMES) 50-60; 1 male age 10-15; 1 male age 5-10; 1 female (MARTHA) age 50-60; and 1 female age 20-30.
Also on page 40 was JOHN COLE; 1 male (JOHN COLE) age 70-80; and 1 female (possibly ELIZABETH PACK) age 50-60.
On page 43 is GREENVILLE PACK: 1 male (GREENVILLE) age 30-40; 1 male age 10-15; 2 males age 5-10; 2 males under 5; 1 female (NANCY) age 40-50; 2 females age 15-20; 1 female age 10-15; and 1 female under 5 years of age.
Since ELIZABETH PACK showed as a head of household in the 1830 census of Patrick County, Virginia but not on the 1840 census, could it be that she possibly married JOHN COLE sometime between 1830 and 1840? Her daughter POLLY PACK STEPHENSON listed her parents as JOHN COLE and ELIZABETH PACK on her marriage license in the 1850's in Tazewell County, Virginia.
