The on-line marriage and death record indices of the Maine State Archives provide information which may help you sort out your husbandís genealogy. The web addresses are:
http://thor.ddp.state.me.us/archives/plsql/archdev.Marriage_Archive.search_form
http://thor.dafs.state.me.us/pls/archives/archdev.death_Archive.list
The on-line data is a transcription of paper records and may have a few errors. Marriages are listed for 1892 to 1996 and deaths for 1960 to 1996. Instructions and fees are given for obtaining copies of specific marriage records. More details, such as parents of marrying couples, are probably provided in the paper records. Death records of married women are given under their married name at the time of death.

I found the following:
Doris W. Judkins of Bangor m. Verd L. Packard of Dexter 6-18-1904.
No record of Albert Boyce marrying Ida Brayhall, which is consistent with your information that they were both from New Brunswick, but
May A. Smith m. Albert M. Boyce, both of Washburn, 12-21-1912.
No record of deaths of the above in 1960 to 1996, but an
Ida M. Packard died in Rumford on 6-28-1971 at age 75 yr.
Geneva Dora Boyce d. in Presque Isle on 11-12-1993 at age 86 yr.
Melvin O. Boyce d. in Washburn on 2-5-1976 at age 70 yr.

Marriages of Liston, Warren, Kathleen, and Sandra are given which I assume you have. Also there was a marriage of
Lottie M. Packard to Glenn L. Boyce, both of Palmyra, 8-22-1925.
Lottie Boyce died in Bangor 10-23-1978 at age 69 yr.
No record of death of Glenn Boyce between 1960 and 1996.
These may have been siblings or cousins of Doris or Verd and may have descendants who have information about your husbandís ancestors.

There are younger Verd(e) Packards listed in the Maine Archives indices with connections with Palmyra, Sangerville, and Portland who may be relatives of interest to you. Verd is an uncommon name. Verde is French for green. Perhaps your Verd was named for a French Canadian ancestor with the surname Verd or Verde.

The Maine State Library has the following Packard genealogy:
Wight, Col. Charles Packard; "The Known Descendants of Samuel Packard, Hingham, Mass., up to 1951," typescript, No. Auburn, Maine: bef 1975; with addenda by Packard, Lt. Col. Robert N; Maine State Library, Augusta, 929.2 P119w1.
Wight collected data on Packards from all over the U.S., but especially from New England with much data from Maine and Massachusetts. I have a photocopy of it. I could not find in it any of the Packards who are related to the Boyces. If an earlier generation such as the father or grandfather of Verd Packard can be identified, I probably can make a connection to the ancestral immigrant of most of the Packards in the U.S., Samuel Packard, who came from England to Hingham, Mass., in 1638.

Dick Packard
