The sources I'm going to be looking at, that I mentioned in a prior message, are (I hope) ones that will help verify the Packard-John Alden connection (via Zaccheus Packard and Mercy Alden).

MAYFLOWER FAMILIES, 3 volumes. Genealogical Publishing Co., 1985.

THE MAYFLOWER DESCENDANT, a quartelry magazine of the Massachusetts Society of Mayflower Descendants, 34 volumes of the magazine published from 1899 through 1937. Available in book form. I understand the magazine resumed publication in 1985.

MAYFLOWER INCREASINGS by Susan E. Roser

MAYFLOWER MARRIAGES by Susan E. Roser, 1990.

NEW ENGLAND MARRIAGES PRIOR TO 1700 by Clarence Almon Torrey.

JOURNALL OF THE ENGLISH PLANTATION AT PLIMOUTH, by G. Mourt (Morton); known as "Mourt's Relation."

PLYMOUTH COLONY: ITS HISTORY AND PEOPLE, 1620-1691, by Eugene Aubrey Stratton. Salt Lake City, Ancestry Publishing Co., 1986.

MAYFLOWER FAMILIES THROUGH FIVE GENERATIONS; Plymouth, MA, General Society of Mayflower Descendants, 1975.

Most of these books are at the library I patronize; some of the others will be harder to find!

Some sources I've already used are on the Web:

GENEALOGICAL DICTIONARY OF THE FIRST SETTLERS OF NEW ENGLAND, by James Savage, at
http://genweb.net/~books/SavageVol2.txt

HISTORY OF NORTH BRIDGEWATER, by Bradford Kingman, found at
http://genweb.net/~blackwell/ma/bridgewaternorth/brdgwtrintro.html

(This book does have some errors in it, so use it only as a collateral to other sources).

And some other print sources:

EARLY MASSACHUSETTS MARRIAGES, PRIOR TO 1800 by Bailey, Frederic William, (Baltimore, Genealogical Publishing Co., 1968) 3 volumes.

Also, if you aren't a member of PAFA (Packard and Affiliated Families Association), it would be worthwhile to join, and to receive PACKARD'S PROGRESS. At one time, there was published a collection of back issues -- I originally joined just AFTER that was sold out! <argh> I hope they'll see fit to do that again!

Hope this helps.

Karen Packard Rhodes
