Alan Dinsmoor Packard
Alan Dinsmoor Packard, 77, of Olathe, KS, passed away into eternal life on Sunday, January 25, 2004, at the Good Samaritan Care Center. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 28, at the McGilley & Frye Funeral Home with a private family burial following in the Olathe Memorial Cemetery. Friends may call on the family on Tuesday, January 27, from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Olathe Medical Center (Olathe Medical Center Charitable Foundation). He was born February 23, 1926, in Brooklyn, NY, the son of Karle S. Packard and Dorothea Dinsmoor Packard. On August 14, 1948, he was united in marriage to Louise Watson Stewart. Alan attended the University of Missouri in Columbia and graduated in 1948 with a degree in liberal arts. He was employed in the food industry over 38 years and worked in the Kansas City area in sales for Holsum Foods for the majority of his career. He was in the Army Air Force during World War II. He was a past member of the Allied Food Club of Kansas City and Lions Club International. He loved to play and watch golf. He was an avid genealogist and was a permanent member of the Packard and Allied Families Association. Survivors include his wife, Louise Packard of Olathe, KS; his three children and their spouses, Cynthia and Rick Coffey of Overland Park, KS, Edward and Gloria Packard of Lincoln, NE, and Alan and Vilma Packard of Davenport, IA; his brother, Karle S. Packard of Hampton, NH; his sister-inlaw, Jeanne Hubbard, Columbia, MO; five grandchildren; five greatgrandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
