(Lt.) John STARK (ca. 1654/6 - 1689) left two daughters & widow Elizabeth, who m2. John WEEKS. John WEEKS & Elizabeth had six children: John, Mary, Joshua, Margaret, Leonard, and Friend [Helen Stark says Friend was b. 1703; Packer Bulletin, Nov. 1940, says 1705]. When John WEEKS d. 1712, James PACKER was bondsman with the widow Elizabeth. In 1739, Friend & Joshua WEEKS & Mary & John STANTON, all of Norwich, released claim to the estate of Richard PACKER of Groton, CT. SAVAGE says John PACKER of New London, CT, by 1655, by first wife Elizabeth, who d. 4 May 1674, had probably John, Samuel, and Richard; by second wife Rebecca, widow of Thomas LATHAM & dau/o Hugh WELLS, whom he m. 24 Je. 1676, had James, bpt. 11 S 1681, besides Joseph, Benjamin, & Rebecca, named by Miss CAULKINS. Packer Bulletin, July 1940, lists children of John & Elizabeth born from F 1656/7 to before 1674, John, Samuel, Richard, Mary, Elizabeth, Sarah, & Thomasine/Tamzen PACKER. TORREY lists the wife of John STARK as Elizabeth [PACKER?]. This means that TORREY was not sure of the surname either. The first wife of John PACKER, d. 1689, is listed by TORREY as Elizabeth [FRIEND]. I've seen Elizabeth listed as dau/o Richard PACKER, but if she had two daughters by John STARK before 1689, she had to have been born before 1670. Thus, if she was a PACKER, she must have been a sister of Richard. Article in TAG, Vol. 28, 1952, by W. H. WOOD, says that John PACKER was a carpenter and that his wife Elizabeth signed with him in New London Deeds 5:14, 1671. The will of John FRIEND of Salem, MA, 4 Apr. 1655, pr. 26 Mar. 1656, named dau. Elizabeth PECKER (sic). WOOD says that John & Elizabeth had dau. Elizabeth, who named a son Friend WEEKS. He gives the age of Elizabeth as 49 in March 1719/20, New London Superior Court. Does anybody have a primary source that would prove that John STARK's wife Elizabeth was dau/o John PACKER and Elizabeth FRIEND?
