My mother was a Packett from the Northern Neck of Va. and I have been researching the family for many years. I have notes in my files showing a Vincent Packett in Richmond and Westmoreland Co. records, 1790-1810. Also have few notes on Reuben Packett in Richmond Co. Many references to William Packett in both counties which was a popular family name. First Packett in the area was apparently Gabriel Packett who first appears in Westmoreland Co. records in 1692. By late 1800s there were two brances of the family, one in Richmond Co. (my line) and one in adjacnet Westmoreland Co. The Westmoreland family left the area after 1800 and some settled in what is now Jefferson Co. West Va. I can provide more details if you are interested.
