I have previously written in this forum about George H. Packwood: http://www.familytreemaker.com/users/k/i/l/Ed-R-Killian/ Here is a portion of that copyrighted report: "CONFEDERATE SERVICE Geo. H. Packwood, Capt., 4th Inf., Co. K, the 'Packwood Guards'. George Hinman Packwood served as a Captain in the Confederate Army and his pension application is recorded. In the obituary of Frank D'Armond it was noted that D'Armond was one of those brave few at Kennesaw mountain who assisted the heroic Capt. Geo. H. Packwood in pulling heavy guns up the mountain. Later, George H. Packwood served as Commander, S. E. Hunter Camp No. 1185, United Confederate Veterans, Clinton, East Feliciana Parish, LA, ca. 1906. George H. Packwood served in the Hunter Rifles. He was in many battles, notably those of Peachtree Creek, Shiloh, and Baton Rouge. In the Bible of Dr. William H. Tucker is found an address for Capt. George H. Packwood, "Prisoner of War, Room 9, Block 2, Johnson's Island, near Sandusky City, Ohio". It has been reported that Rachel Rheams who married James Tucker was first married to George Hinman Packwood, and had a son, George H. Packwood, born June 10, 1833 (?). A clipping from a Clinton paper at the time of this Packwood's death stated that he had been a Clinton resident since 1844. GEORGE H. PACKWOOD'S PARENTAGE A grave near William Hinman Packwood is that of Sarah C. Packwood, born October 14, 1781, died July 14, 1840. Note: This person is George Packwood, Sr.'s wife who was surnamed 'Hinman'. The 'Hinman' name appears in other, distant-from-Packwood, Killian descendants, notably the Nancy Killian/Abraham Galtney family. Also found nearby are the graves of: George Packwood, born March 24, 1774, died January 28, 1854, New London, CT (father to William Hinman Packwood) Emily Frances Packwood, born November 5, 1835, died November 13, 1836 (possibly a young sister to George H. Packwood)"
