I found your information very interesting, and envy the amount of detail you have been able to discover. While researching relatives on my Mothers' side, I requested any birth information that a church in Carbondale, PA, St. Rose of Lima, might have on a family named Gettings. My great-Grandfather was a Dominick Gettings the youngest child of a James H and Catherine Wall Gettings. In l859, a son Anthony had been born and baptized in Carbondale and the two witnesses were Dominick and Catherine Padden. For later births, there were other witnesses but I wonder if the name Dominick was given to ny great-Grandfather because of an earlier friendship. I anyone has come across information re: Gettings or Gethings I would geatly appreciate knowing. Additionally, several of the older children of James and Catherine also left for the west in the l870's for mining opportunities in Nevada and Montana.
