I just came across your Genforum posting regarding David Paden, and am interested in sharing information. I believe your David was the brother of my 3rd great grandfather James Paden. James was born in York Co. PA in 1801.

I have found a James Paden born in York Co. He was the son of a David Paden who died in 1803. This David's father was Benjamin Pedan who died in 1813. He (Benjamin) left his son's share of his estate to his grandchildren. Two of these children were minors, James and David. In a guardian document dated January 1814, their ages are James 12 and David 10. These ages appear to match your David and my James.

I had found some information on their stop in Lancaster, OH, but have not been able to confirm it. Their mother Ruth (Blain) remarried after her husband David's death. She married another Paden, Joseph (relation to David unknown). I have been able to find land and tax records in Fairfield Co. OH (Lancaster) for a Joseph Paden, but I have not been sure if it is the right one as I have not been able to find any mention there of his wife, Ruth. Do you have any more information on the Padens in Lancaster?
