These Padens were from Lower Chanceford Twp. York Co. PA. I have nothing to indicate that they migrated to WV before coming to Ohio although could have. In York Co. these Padens (usually found as Pedan there)were Presbyterians. There were also Padens in the northern part of York Co. who were Quakers and migrated to the Western part of PA somewhat earlier. The Padens I have identified in Fairfield Co. have been the ones from Lower Chanceford. However, there are others there that I cannot account for. So they could be from another line.
I do know that my ggg grandfather James Paden who was the son of David and Ruth did operate a woolen mill in Clark Co. OH just outside of Springfield.
I think this will require more research into Fairfield Co. records. There may be estate records for Joseph or Ruth that might reveal something. I am still looking.
