Hi. Obediah Paden was one of my great grandfathers. He resided in Paden City, WV. This town was named after him. Many years ago Obediah traded the indians a gun for an island in the Ohio River. After several years Obediah owned several acres of land from Bens Run, WV to Proctor, WV all of which are along the Ohio River. Eventually pieces were sold off. There is still a small section in Paden City that is owned by the Paden's. My grandfather, Ross Paden, owned the land which my grandmother still resides on. They had 5 children and 2 of the boys reside on the tracts adjacent to my grandfathers. Obediah was buried in the Paden Cemetary just outside of Paden City. As a young girl my family and I would go there and take care of the grounds. At this time I don't have all of my research here. My grandmother borrowed it but should be receiving it back soon. You can email me directly at if you have any questions.
