Hi Victoria - although we've never met, we are second cousins !
I am the son of Patricia Edwards (your father's cousin) and the grandson of James (Jim) Padfield (Noel's brother). I have started researching the family Padfield family tree on behalf of my mother, Pat. The problem is that I end up in a different place than you describe. The Isaac Padfield I found was born in Monmouthshire and not in Somerset (although the only proof of this I have is Census returns and not a birth certificate. I am sure that Isaac's father was John Padfield and born in Leigh on Mendip in Somerset.
Are you certain that Isaac was born in Clutton? - if you have proof of this I'd love to hear from you because it means I am off track somewhere...
