Hello Jean
I believe we may have a connection along the way.My husbands mother was a Padfield, and we have some information that takes us back to 1836 Holcombe, and yes there were loads of them in the village.
Our Padfield line moved to Wales as well. If you contact me at my email address I will pass on the address of a Lady I made contact with on the Somerset mailing list, who is also researching Padfield's. She gave a lot of information from the local parishes as she lives there
Regards
Rosina
