My info on Bortin comes from the LDS site. My great aunt's letter state that her father, Hermann, came to the US when he was 19 and settled in Merrill, Wisconsin. Hermann was born in 1859, making his arrival in 1878. I have not contacted Polar, WI for records. Aunt Rose states Hermann was born in Pommern, Germany. Old stories from my mother said they were from the Berlin area??? There is info available on the Kieper family on the FEEFHS Websire Index using the Die Vorfahren database. Other info is available from Immanuel Lutheran Church in Seymour, WI. Many of the "younger" Kiepers were raised there before some came to Oregon. How do you connect to the Kiepers?
