MADISON - Alice Pagel, age 77, was born in Freedom Township to Paul and Emma (Mahlke) Pagel on Aug. 23, 1926. She passed away on Sunday, July 24, 2005, at University Hospital in Madison. Alice was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Baraboo.
She was a 1962 graduate of the University of Wisconsin and taught art classes at McFarland High School. Alice enjoyed gardening, pottery, birds, interior decorating, cooking, traveling and was a wonderful caretaker to her brother, Paul and her sister, Frieda. During her retirement years she resided in Madison and was an active member of Bethel Lutheran Church.
Alice is survived by two sisters, Frieda Waldinger of Sauk City, and Laura Lynch of North Freedom; a brother, Paul Pagel of North Freedom; a niece, Margaret Waldinger; a nephew, Anton Waldinger; her two cats, Eva and Chester; and other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; by her sister, Linda Burton; and her brother-in-law, Anton Waldinger Sr.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 29, 2005, at 11 a.m. at BETHEL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 312 Wisconsin Ave., Madison. A visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.
