Your information about the origin of the name is indeed fascinating. We are very interested in finding out where and when the name began...and...if there might actually be more than one "beginning". I had heard that it possibly started on the Croatian Island KRK, and then another possibility is a place called Pajc*ije (Slovenia) in the year 1519, but that is much later than what you found. I'm sure that we will eventually find out, and your information certainly helps.
My grandfather, Ernest Palcic (Palc*ic*) came to the United States in 1902 from Vrhnika pri Loz*u, Slovenia. He met my grandmother, Agnes (Nez*a) Brades*ko, and was married in Cleveland--there were and are many Slovenians and Croatians there. I haven't come across your grandfather, Frank, in my research yet, but I have several relatives and contacts in the Cleveland area--I might eventually find out something about him. (My grandfather also died in 1965.) I will be sure to let you know if I discover anything that sounds like what you are looking for.
I have found several listings for Palcich in the directories, and I assume that is a variation of the name, although I haven't contacted anyone yet to find out for sure.
We are glad to have you in this forum, Jakov, and we value your input.
