Hi Linda, Paul and George:

Welcome to our “Palcic Page”.

Donal and I have corresponded a few times by e-mail, so I was aware that he had some relatives in England (and a lot of other places). Thanks for your information.

As you have probably gathered, from reading the other postings, there is a strong possibility that the Palcic name originated in Europe, most likely in today’s Croatia (assuming that there was only one origin). From what I have found, Croatia and Slovenia, with over 100 each, have the most directory listings of people with the Palcic surname. The United States comes in third with a little less than 100 (we are not as rare as you might have thought). I checked the phone directory for England, but I didn’t find any Palcic listings there. I guess you somehow managed to evade at least the directory that I was working with.

I thought I had the United States pretty much figured out, with fifteen core (Palcic, Palcich, Palsic) family groups, and thirty one immigrants. But then the Ellis Island records became available (at, with 99 Palcic entries, so I guess it’s now back to the drawing board for me.

The other Linda Palcic you were referring to is from Canada, and she also has Croatian roots, as you do. I haven’t heard anything from her in quite some time, but I assume that she is still working on her family genealogy. There are a lot of Palcics in this world, so I would guess that there are also at least a couple more named Linda. I have a niece in the United States who was Linda Palcic until her name was changed when she married.

Hope to hear from you again.
Best regards,
Daniel Palcic
