Dear Liisa Palén,

I'm also from Finland and would like to know more about the origin of Palén family. What I know is that there are many Palén names in Sweden, more than in Finland. From my mother who's maiden name is Palén, I've heard that some ancestor of ours was a Polish refugee who went to Ĺland and further on to Finnish mainland. My mother's cousin did some research on this issue but now he's already dead. His theory however got some support as I studied some writings on these web pages. My Finnish ancestors with the name Palén lived in Hämeenkoski (Koski HL) and Hollola from the beginning of the 19th century but from earlier times I do not have any information at all.
