Starting Sept. 30, 2014, Genealogy.com will be making a big change. GenForum message boards, Family Tree Maker homepages, and the most popular articles will be preserved in a read-only format, while several other features will no longer be available, including member subscriptions and the Shop.

The Palens also travelled to Ireland where some, like my great grandfather, live in and around Dublin. An Irish friend once said that, "Yes, he knew the Palens, but," he said, "they're not really Irish. They've only lived there a thousand years!" These Palens probably descend from the Vikings who are credited with founding Dublin. Palens also show up in early New Amsterdam (New York and New Jersey) and there seem to be plenty of Palens in the Nederlands today.
