St.Leonards Shoreditch is just outside the city of London bounded on the East by Bethnal Green. This is North of the Thames.
The reference to James Paling was in the parish register of St.Leonards. There did not seem to be any other references but other children to James and Henrietta were baptised at St Mary Magdeline Bermondsey,Southwark Surrey, and St Olave Bermondsey. This is South of the Thames.
James Paling married Henrietta Gray 1804 St Thomas Bermondsey
1st child William bap 3 Oct 1805 St Mary Magdeline
Then James 22 Mar 1807 St M.M.
Mary 16 Sep 1813 St Olave
Sarah 4 Oct 1815 St Olave
James 6 Oct 1823 St Leonards
There may be others in between Sarah and James
I know this is rather hit and miss but there could not have been many James and Henrietta Palings about.
James senr. was living in Bethnal Green in 1841, a shoemaker. He would have gone to Southwark to get leather.
