Dear Brenda,
I am merely beginning my research & was interested to see Sir Lawrence Palk's name in your enquiry. I have close family in SW England and know that Sir Lawrence is in my relatively immediate family line - my father has a copy of a pen & ink drawing of Sir Lawrence's seat, the folly of which still features on teatowels produced for visitors to the area!
Many years ago, my father attended a conference in Barbados where he met a chap who shared the surname Palk - this gentleman is also aware of the connection to the Spencer family (I have enjoyed all your conributions!). Unfortunately, my father did not bring much recollection of that conversation back from the conference.
Do let me know if any of the above is of interest to you - I shall definitely respond!
Kindest regards,
Lydia
