Hey all, my husband and I have come across some information. A few years ago, my husbands dad gave us his father's birth certificate. We have always heard the stories of my husband dad, changing the last name.
If anyone can help us it would be greatly appreciated.
The Birth Cert was issued in Minnesota, County- Todd, City--Staples on Dec 1, 1900, by Dr. F.H. Knickerbocker, EW. Carlson (City Clerk)
My husband's grandfather's name on the Birth Cert was Ransom Grant Palmatier. (He was also know as Grant)
His date of birth was Nov. 16, 1900
His parents names were Jessie Adams, birthplace IL, Usual occupation Gardener.
the mother's name was Martha Adams, birthplace, Iowa, ususal occupation was House wife
One the Cert it said total number of children born to mother is 7. Number of born alive but now living, 7.
Well some where along the way, the last name was changed to Palmateer
Now I have heard stories that Grant was out in CA working on docks or something like that. for some reason we did a search on Mary Adams, and found a cemetery (sp) info for a Mary Adams Palmateer, in Ukiah, CA. My husband found that weird, because he remembers his dad saying he visited Ukiah, CA at some point. My husband cannot remember when his dad was there.
I don't know if any of this information will help any other palmateer's/palmatier's in their search of family or not.
If anyone has any info, it would be greatly appreciated.
