Hi Palmateer Researchers!

I have done quite a bit of researching on the Prince Edward County Palmateers (and of coursae it is nowhere complete).

But most roads point to John Henry Palmateer Sr who was married to Nellie Rogers (supposedly a daughter of one of the Roger's Rangers corp ;eaders in the Revolutionary War).

John Polmatier Jr., married Catherine Starts (should be Stark) on May 2, 1809, according to the Kingston Parish Register of John Langhorn. They had a wack of kids (12 or 13) beginning in 1815 it looks like. The first was Phoebe Palmatier who married William Ostrander. Zachariah Palmatier married Jane Ann Dulmage, and a Jacob Palmatier married Rebecca Bongard. There was also a Solomon Palmatier who married Mary Moore, John Nelson Palmatier who married Lydia Ackerman, and a John Henry Palmatier (the III) who may have never married.

There are many others but one line that is clearly a mystery. Mary Jane Polmateer was baptised in Picton Metodist Church in 1805. She was the daughter of Samuel Palmateer and Jane Rose. No other mention. Mary Jane Palmateer married my direct Great Great Great Grandfather Zachariah Stark in 1840.

There are several male Palmateers who were listed in the 1822 Prince Edward Militia. Virtually the same ones appear in the 1829 Prince Edward militia. They include a John Palmateer (who was listed as 17 in the 1822 list), William Palmateer (listed as 21 in the 1822 list), Thomas Palmateer (who was listed as 19 in the 1822 list), and a Jacob Palmateer (who was listed as 44 in the 1822 list) and one other who was also listed but can't remeber his name.

My theory is that Jacob Palmateer who was listed as 44 in 1822 was the father of the four others and was also the father of Mary Jane born in 1805. These Palmateers are too young in 1822 to be the sons of John Henry Polmatier, Sr. and Nellie Rogers.
