Can't remember if we have touched base. There may be a ring of truth to your father's story about James being a Hall from Ohio and that Lucinda was actually a Palmateer. I wouldn't swear on it though.

There was a Lucinda Palmateer in Sheffield Twp. in Eastern Ontario who just disappeared after the 1871 Census. I have never found a death record for her or a marriage record. I do believe I have the marriage record of James Palmateer to Lucinda Hall though.

I'll have to dig up the info.
