Bill,
I think I confused two ancestors when I wrote that he was born in 1811.That was on the Collier side.
Follows is what I have on Miletus. I have that he was born in 1813, son of Benjamin and Sarah (Montague) Palmore.Supposedly, Benjamin marrried Sarah Montague, although I have personally found no record of their marriage. His brother, William, married Judith Carter. Both Sarah and William died, and Benjamin ended up marrying Judith. The information I have on the children of Miletus is from the census records.I would go that Emma Josephine is the correct name, as the I and J on some handwriting of the time are extremely similar.
As for the document that you found linking the Palmores and Montagues, it only gives more verification to the statement about Benjamin marrying Sarah Montague.
Miletus married Margery Susan Bosher, daughter of William and Maria R. Bosher before 1840.The information that I can gove you about the Boshers is that they came from England in the mid 1600's and settled in King William County. There are still many Boshers in that and the Richmond area. (One Dr. Bosher was the superintendent of Henrico County Schools when my husband (the actual Palmore descendent) went to school there.)
Could you email me a transcript of the document that is at your parents place. This possibly would give me more information to see if I could find a marriage record for Benjamin and Sarah, and possible verify Miletus' age.
Amy
